Schedule
The expedition takes off for Kathmandu on 26th of March 2009. Checking and updating equipments, which takes a few days in Kathmandu, we will fly to Lukla for the trek to the Everest base camp. While trekking we will get used to thin air at the altitude of 3000-5400 m for a week.
Trekking schedule:
- Fly to Lukla 27.3 (2860m)
- Trekking 30.3 Lukla - Phakding (n.3000m)
- Trekking 31.3 Phakding - Namche (3450m)
- Trekking 2.4 Namche - Tengboche (3860m)
- Trekking 3.4 Tenboche - Pheriche (4280m)
- Trekking 4.4 Pheriche - Lobuche (4940m)
- Trekking 5.4 Lobuche - Everest Base Camp (5400m)
We will reach the base camp on 5th April. Once in the base camp we need acclimatize for a couple days more before actual climbing can start. To reach the summit we need to establish three four camps. This will take around one month!
The summit attempt will start from the Base Camp around mid May. From there the expedition goes higher a camp by camp. The first camp situates in 5950 m. From there we will go via second camp at 6400 m to the third camp at 7160 m and again to the camp four at 8015 m. The final push to the summit will start from camp four at 10pm and it is supposed to take about 10 hours to reach summit. Another 10 hours more is required before we cans take a rest at camp three.
We will reach the summit at the end of May. After coming back to the Base Camp safe and sound the journey continues back to Kathmandu.

- Trekking 28.5 Everest Base Camp - Lobuche (4940m)
- Trekking 29.5 Lobuche - Tenboche (3860m)
- Trekking 30.5 Tenboche - Namche (3450m)
- Trekking 31.5 Namche - Lukla (2860m)
The expedition will be back in Finland on 5th of June 2009.
